At LightPlanet, we are focused on both cost and energy sustainability for all our clients, as well as the wider issue of global environmental sustainability.
The ongoing cost of consumption and maintenance for older forms of lighting can be incredibly high and depending on the age and type, equally damaging to the environment. Using the latest, most efficient LED fittings available, we can help you to achieve your cost and carbon reduction targets as quickly as possible.
Replacing with any LED fitting is often seen as an energy saving investment, however, as with all products, quality and performance can vary dramatically, depending on source. Using poor quality fittings or fittings inappropriate for the application can have a dramatic effect on a project’s sustainability credentials and can in some cases, eradicate any savings entirely.
All our projects have sustainability at their core and by supplying fittings and controls of exceptional quality, we deliver installations which meet the criteria for the industry’s top carbon saving initiatives.

Salix Finance is a government funded, not-for-profit organisation which provides 100% interest-free finance across the UK public sector to improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions and lower energy bills. Salix Finance is available for the following Public Sector clients to apply; Local Authority, Emergency Services, Higher Education Institutions, Further Education Institutions, NHS Trusts and Foundation Trusts, Maintained Schools and Sixth Form Colleges and Academies & Academy Sixth Forms.
The ECA will allow 100% of the capital cost of a qualifying energy saving investment to be claimed back as tax relief in the first year, against your corporation tax.
SALIX offer full or part funding for qualifying energy saving projects, across a range of green technologies.
Funding comes in the form of an interest free, government backed loan. The loan amount is repaid by the savings derived from the technology installed. A project fully funded by SALIX should be cost neutral from a capital perspective.
Yes, SALIX funding can be used in conjunction with other funding sources such as capital, as long as no part of the project is double-funded and the portion of the project funded by SALIX, meets the eligibility criteria.
SALIX funding is available for the UK public sector only.
Yes, LightPlanet can help with every aspect of your SALIX application, from survey through to compliance and submission.
To qualify for SALIX funding, lighting projects must have a payback period of a certain number of years or below*. Projects must also not exceed a given cost per tonne figure of CO2*
(* Payback and cost/tonne limits depend on which type of SALIX fund is accessed)
When the loan is repaid, the ongoing savings are yours to keep in full.
Yes, you can repay early at any time with no penalty. Repaid funds are recycled to fund other energy saving projects.
The quality and efficacy* of the fittings is of paramount importance. The lower the amount of energy used compared with the existing install, the better the overall payback will be.
(* Efficacy refers to the amount of useful light (luminaire lumens) the fitting achieves from each circuit watt of power. The higher the lumen per watt figure, the more efficient the fitting is.)
Source lumens are not to be confused with luminaire lumens. Source lumens refer to the light output of the LED chip itself before it is part of a fitting. Luminaire lumens take into account potential losses from refraction, body design, opacity of diffuser etc.. to give a true output figure of a fitting. Luminaire lumens should always be used when calculating efficacy.
For a complete and compliant application, approval and funding takes approximately two weeks from date of submission.
